Biography – Gord Downie

Gord Downie is the lead vocalist and a driving creative force behind The Tragically Hip, who have brought their energetic live performances to audiences around the world for over two decades. The band has been honoured with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, as well as honorary degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music. They have been nominated and received numerous Juno Awards, and were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Gord also enjoys a career as a solo artist. He’s released 4 albums to date, Coke Machine Glow, Battle of the Nudes , The Grand Bounce, and recently worked with The Sadies on Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun. And published a book of poetry called, Coke Machine Glow. Gord has also been involved in film. He’s directed music videos, narrated the Waterlife and National Parks Project documentaries, and has appeared in a number of films.
